1) Please tell us more about the work that you’re doing in the automotive manufacturing sector.
Until April 2019, I was part of Tesla’s battery supply chain team. Today, I am a Principal Consultant at London-based Benchmark Minerals Intelligence, the world’s leading voice and most trusted provider of independent price assessments for the lithium ion battery and electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.

2) What do you see as being the biggest impact of new technologies on the automotive supply chain?

The automotive sector’s shift towards electric and autonomous vehicles necessitates a fundamental shift in supply chain thinking -the battery supply chain functions differently than a traditional automotive supply chain. Those of us who are participating in the industry today share responsibility to ensure that the entire value chain can be successful during this momentous shift.

3) Is there one new technology that you think will dominate the automotive manufacturing landscape in years to come, and why?
While there has been ongoing speculation about the viability of future battery chemist and forms (ex. Solid state), lithium-ion batteries are here to stay as the mainstream large-scale storage technology of choice for the upcoming years.

4) Do you have any tips for how companies working in the automotive sector can successfully implement new technologies into their processes?

Spending time today learning about evolving battery chemistries and battery supply chain management will pay large dividends to OEMs who are making large-scale EV investments in the coming decade.

5) What was your motivation to join this event?
Excited to have the chance to meet motivated participants from across the value chain in one place!
